Milners double door safe

This old milners double door safe, probably turn of the century, not exactly sure of the date of manufacture but the fact it has brass fittings would lead me to guess at early 1900s. Thankfully I didn't have to open this particular safe as it was unlocked when we got there. The customer had lost the one and only key they had for it so we were tasked with taking the back pan off (inside cover,) removing the lock and taking it back to our workshop to change the combination of levers around so if the previous key was found it would no longer work. We then had the laborious task of cutting a key by hand which took 3 hours to complete… (not just your standard yale key.) Once one key has been cut by hand we can then copy that one by machine. Armed with two new keys we returned to site to re fit, and voila we now have a 100 year old lock working better then most locks, and in my opinion more secure than modern locks. A true representation of when we made things with pride rather than mass produced.
